Okay so. I'm getting the feeling that a lot of us have all sorts of wild theorization and headcanons about GHB and the Summoner? I find this exciting! I really love headcanons. It may or may not be an unhealthy fascination.

Anyway. I've dumped a few on the intro post, but I was thinking we should maybe unload them somewhere centralized? There have been some interesting thoughts on the Summoner bandied about, and I'd like to hear some GHB stuff from all y'all as well! Takes on their dynamic, personalities, politics of the time, Alternian worldbuilding, what have you. We have such a free reign with the ancestors (and enough tantalizing detail about these two!) that it would be pretty fun to theorize.

At least, I think so. If nothing else, do it for me! I want to roll around in your headcanons. All of them. /roll roll

Well one of my biggest headcanons between the two of them is that they are both used to being top dog. The Grand Highblood through his intimidation and manipulation of other people's fears and just generally killing anyone who gets in his way and the summoner who thanks to the sassy summoner blog I think of as the biggest douche who ever lived but you can't help but love despite his arrogance. I have many theories about how they met but I think the important thing is their dynamic. Despite hating each other from the fact they are so similar but they both have opposite ideals about the hemospectrum, which helps fuel their blackrom, they actually really respect each other. I get the feeling that the GHB has very few people he actually likes so if he does he probably holds a great level of respect for them.

For example, he thinks the summoner is puny and out of his god-damn mind if he can topple the hemospectrum but he likes the summoner's determination and lack of fear of him. And because of that lack of fear he wants to try and push the summoner to his limits, but at the same time wants that continual fight.

The Summoner on the other hand, consider's the GHb to be a great big bag of dicks and epitome of how the hemospectrum uses intimidation and power to be continually ruled by the condesce and the purple bloods. However, on some level, I feel like he's seen sides of the GHB that no one else has and even though it is the ghb he's respectful of the fact that this troll does have feelings and thoughts and even though they don't believe in the same ideas, their both strong warriors. I also feel like after spinneret who I don't see as being very truthful about everything, the GHB doesn't hold or hide anything back and that attracts the summoner.

Basically they both hate each other, but its their blackrom and they stand up for their partner when somebody else talks down about them, like hey thats my kismesis only I can say they're the unholy spawn of clowns and culling drones.

I have other theories but I'll wait and see what other people say first.

One of my favorite things about this is how we get to hear how everybody else interprets the characters! :D

Summoner
Upbringing
OK, so, Peter Pan was, in the original Barrie, raised by birds or nobody at all. I kept that motif by killing off his lusus and having him be raised by wild animals, via his communing powers. Since they weren't lusii and he was assumed dead, he got no schoolfeeding beyond the most basic. If he hadn't been communing with everything around him and thus socialized, he'd've been a feral for sure. He's... still kinda feral, honestly.

Communing
There are several reasons why the Summoner is such a powerful psionic in the realm of communing. The most important is his regard for the beasts he communes with. He really honest to God believes they're people. (It was fellow trolls he had to be convinced about, since he couldn't commune with them...) Another is his tendency to give his heart away on a moment's notice. He really loves them, and they know it, so they'll do just about anything for him - and vice versa. (An embarrassingly large percentage of his cavalreapers know how to nurse baby mice. They don't talk about it.)

Moirail
I invented a moirail for him and I am not sorry! I needed somebody who actually resembled Pupa Pan, since Summoner doesn't, and I needed somebody to help provide the initial impetus toward children. Enter "Rufio," jadeblood runaway from the brooding caverns. He actually survives the rebellion, goes back to the caverns, and breeds a lusus species for the Summoner's descendant.

GHB
Philosophy
He's devoted to the Mirthful Messiahs, which means he views it as his calling to make sure the pot of Alternian violence boils, but never boils over. He's not aligned with the Empress, he's not aligned with any rebels, mostly he sticks his paw in and stirs things up or scoops stuff out or just for the hell of it.

Boredom
Viewing everybody as bloody fodder for the coming of the Messiahs jades a troll! It's hard to make an impression on him one way or another. Someone who's willing to cull a seadweller for lulz (and treason, but ostensibly lulz) is someone who seriously does not give a fuck in most situations.

(more to come, perhaps! if I can get off my sorry butt and write it *lol*)
